Do the electric car batteries drain when not in use?

Better phrase to entitle the case is “electric car batteries drain when not driving” rather than “not in use”. yes, EV batteries drain even when not driven.

The power used by vehicles when not in use depends on several factors.

However, Drain is not significant in normal condition. So it can be neglected, if you charge your car regularly.

Normally electric car batteries drain less than 1% of power per day.

When an electric car is parked, the battery loses charge. It is subject to a 2% to 4% charge loss per month.

But in case of abnormal battery drain, such as the Vampire drain in Tesla, it is around 2-3% a day.

The factors responsible  for the abnormal Battery Drain are: BMS Temperature  Software settings  Updates  Features of the car  Charging cycle
