At the end of 2020, United Kingdom has shown a peak in the number of battery-electric vehicles registered. It was nearly 22000 new registered battery electric vehicles.

In July 2017, the Government of the United Kingdom Announced the Air Quality Plan. The plan was to end the sales of the new petrol and diesel cars and vans by the year 2040.

In July 2018, the govt announced the road to zero strategies.Govt is going to support the reduction of emissions from conventional petrol, and diesel vehicles.

In July 2019, the united kingdom set the goal to bring down all greenhouse gas emissions (combined from all sectors)  to net zero by 2050 becomes law.

In November 2020, the UK set its 10-point plan for the green industrial revolution. UK was the first G7 country to set law for zero emission goal by 2050.

In march 2021, the response from consultation came out. It involved all new electric cars and vans be Zero Emissions at the tailpipe, by the year 2035.
